End of the Season Clean Your Cupboards
Summer Residents Can Donate Food Surplus to JFS

Margate, NJ (August 15, 2024) – In shore communities, the end of the summer season occurs around Labor Day when residents and visitors dip their toes in the ocean one more time, purchase a few souvenirs, and clean out their cupboards. For those individuals and families who have a surplus of non-perishable foods, basic essentials, and baby products and prefer not to lug them back home, Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) is the place for you.

At JFS, we will eagerly accept canned and boxed goods – peanut butter, jelly, cereal, tuna, vegetables, pasta, soups, snacks, and more – so we can keep the pantry shelves stocked. For your convenience, you may drop-off food at the JFS Pantry, located at 607 North Jerome Avenue in Margate, Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm.

From January through June 2024, the JFS Food Pantry distributed more than 62,440 pounds of food and delivered 1,667 Kosher meals. The agency continues to provide people with non-perishable foods as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, poultry, meats, frozen products, personal products, household supplies, and more.

“JFS is committed to helping people in need by providing nutritious, healthy food options,” said Andrea Steinberg, JFS Chief Executive Officer. “By cleaning cupboards at summer’s end and donating products to the agency, JFS can continue to meet the increased food demand that exists today.”
