Justice Involved Services

Justice Involved Services (JIS) provides coordination of care for individuals involved in the justice system. Our staff works to create person-centered, wrap-around support for people affected by incarceration, including community re-entry planning, co-responding, vocational support, wellness groups, community resource connections, and jail diversion.

JFS Case Managers deliver on-site support with Atlantic City Police during an incident, to enhance related police training and social interaction between law enforcement and mental health workers in order to provide the best possible outcomes for individuals involved. ACCT is funded by the New Jersey Department of Justice.

Individualized housing stability plan which includes collaborating with other county resources and connecting to emergency shelter. Referrals for services and housing are based on community resources and may include financial assistance/income, healthcare services, and case management.

Providing interventions for people who appear in court or are referred through a variety of social service supports in order to rectify court related issues and reduce recidivism. Services include managing court hearing processing, meeting with counsel, connection to counseling, case management, mental health services, substance use treatment, and domestic violence assistance through Avanzar (formerly The Women’s Center). This program is funded through the Atlantic County Board of Social Services.

Through a partnership between JFS and Atlantic County, wrap-around discharge planning and re-entry support is available for all county inmates. Staff address needs such as housing, mental health services, substance use services, employment, income, identification and family reunification to develop a discharge plan.

Case management for individuals in Atlantic County with serious mental illness(es) (e.g., bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia, etc.) involved with the justice Staff work to create person-centered wrap-around support for people affected by incarceration including community re-entry planning, vocational support, wellness groups, community resource linkages and jail diversion through funding from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Home Electronic Detention System (HEDS)
As an alternative to jail or youth detention centers, the court may release youth onto HEDS, where they can then be referred to JFS for case management support. Our dedicated case managers work closely with youth and their family to develop a personalized treatment plan and help them set and achieve personal goals while demonstrating progress to the court and reducing technical violations.
