Nutritional Services

At JFS, our Nutritional Services are designed to cater to each individual’s unique needs. Whether needing access to healthy foods, diapers, pantry staples, or ready-to-eat meals, we’re here to ensure you have what you need with utmost convenience and accessibility. JFS is committed to providing support that is both compassionate and practical.

Each year, JFS provides over 60,000 pounds of food and basic essentials to nearly 10,000 individuals and families. Our Food Pantry, located at 607 N. Jerome Avenue in Margate, is open 5 days a week from 9 am – 3 pm, offering a wide range of non-perishable, fresh and frozen foods as well as hygiene and dietary-specific products.

The JFS Food Pantry is a vital resource for our community, providing hearty meal options to individuals, children and families in need. Whether you’re feeling the pinch of inflation and food insecurity, a homebound senior on fixed income, an adult with disabilities, a young family with low incomes, and anyone facing temporary crises, our pantry is here to help. We stock nourishing staples ensuring nutritional choices and selection for community members.

Often the need for food is indicative of broader challenges. When visiting the JFS pantry, we assess these needs and can connect individuals with other JFS programs. If enrolled, case managers can deliver food directly to clients in their homes throughout Atlantic County while also addressing broader needs such as employment, counseling and housing.

For individuals who are isolated, homebound or immunocompromised and in need of food, JFS’ dedicated volunteers provide delivery.

JFS also offers a monthly food distribution in Atlantic City, ensuring that more community members have easier access to the essentials they need.

Ready-to-eat Kosher meals are delivered on a weekly basis to dozens of people throughout Atlantic County. Based on an individual’s preferences a variety meals (fish, lasagna, chicken, fresh fruit, soup, and dessert) are personally selected, packed and delivered to their homes by devoted volunteers.

Volunteers assist by placing online orders, picking up groceries from any Atlantic County ACME and then coordinating delivery and helping to put food away in the member’s home while also creating social connection and a personalized shopping experience.

Our specialty pantry is dedicated to meeting a variety of dietary needs, ensuring that everyone can find delicious and suitable options for their health and lifestyle. We offer low-sodium, gluten-free, and kosher-certified goods.

Our Family Pantry supports families with children under five by providing essential items that make caring for your family easier and more affordable. We offer a selection of diapers, wipes, and pull-ups, infant formula and a variety of child-friendly foods that cater to the nutritional needs and tastes of young children.

On-the-Go bags are packed for those living unsheltered or without kitchen facilities to maintain their health and well-being with wholesome, ready-to-eat foods. These bags are thoughtfully packed with items that require no cooking such as tuna or chicken pouches, peanut butter crackers, single-serving breakfast cereals, and individual packages of trail mix or nuts.

While JFS is a pantry of the Community Food Bank, we rely on community help to fill the pantry. The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items such as:

  • Pasta and rice
  • Cereal and oatmeal
  • Nut butters (peanut, almond, etc.)
  • Jelly (grape, strawberry)
  • Ready to eat meals (beef stew, ravioli, etc.)
  • Canned soups and stews
  • Dried fruits and nuts

All donations should be unopened and properly sealed and within their use-by dates.

All donations can be dropped off at JFS in Margate, Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm.
